THE TIPSY SNOB COCKTAIL

Updated: Jan 10, 2019

Find out where the name came from and get the recipe!

Prior to the 2015 Annapolis Cup (a croquet match for those not familiar with the event), I was asked for a good mid-day cocktail recipe other than the traditional bloody mary or mimosa. The only thing that came to mind was a drink I concocted at home one day when there was little work to do after 4:00 and the pantry was light on mixer options. I managed to find cranberry vodka, lemonade and champagne, as well as some fresh strawberries and basil. Turns out the combination worked, and worked surprisingly well.

“That sounds snooty as hell.”

As I relayed the following recipe to a friend, he immediately proclaimed the drink to be ‘snooty as hell’ but agreed it would be perfect for the event. So the work began to come up with a name and after talking through numerous options, ‘The Tipsy Snob’ was born.

Ingredients:

  • 1 part Smirnoff Cranberry Vodka

  • 4 parts Brut Champagne or Prosecco

  • 4 parts Lemonade

  • Sliced Strawberries

  • Sliced Lemons

  • Basil Leaves (removed from stem)

Directions:

  • Mix vodka, champagne and lemonade and stir

  • Serve over crushed ice

  • Garnish strawberries, lemons and basil

THE ANNAPOLIS CUP

In what can best be described as 'The Great Gatsby' meets traditional Annapolitan style, the Annapolis Cup is a croquet match held every Spring between St. John's College and the U.S. Naval Academy. Attendees are entertained by the match while drinking wine, champagne or beer on the lawn of St. John's. It's truly a fun event just for the people / outfit watching alone and the Tipsy Snob cocktail fits right in. Here I am two years ago enjoying the festivities (and by that I mean champagne). Cheers!
